The building will now be put forward to the LABC national awards, where it will compete against winners from the other LABC regions for a national prize. In terms of specification, the building utilises the latest in alternative modern construction with high insulative values on all elements of the external fabric and the integration of "real payback" renewables such as ground source heat pumps and a mechanical ventilation & heat recovery system. It was built from original materials from Derby’s old stadium, where Mr Pickering watched the Rams from childhood.
