Limes Avenue Retail Park Update.

Work commenced on the re-development of the Limes Avenue site in Mickleover, Derby on Monday 23 March 2020. The 0.12 hectare site that occupies a corner plot in Mickleover, two miles from Derby City Centre where Uttoxeter Road meets Limes Avenue, the site is a former garage and petrol station and has been in a state of disrepair for some time.

Eight modern retail units are to be built on the site. The units will be built using a variety of materials including natural stone cladding; they will have large glass frontages and metal fascia’s. The units are proofing popular and to date six have been let, four for a restaurant and two for a new health and fitness gymnasium.

A planning application has been submitted for Change of Use and minor amendments for the health and fitness gymnasium. Contractors began to remove the asbestos from the site prior to demolition on Monday 23 March 2020. The schedule at that time was for the building work to be completed by the autumn of 2020.

Latest update today, Wednesday 25th March the contractor will complete the task of stripping the existing buildings of asbestos and then the site will close until further notice. Planning permission has been granted for the demolition of the existing and construction of three new individual dwellings at 36 Hazelwood Road, Duffield.
