PROJECT OVERVIEW

This was the first major commission for the practice and was to replace an existing detached restaurant building, with an new extension to the existing Travel Company HQ, a former bonded wine warehouse and railway storage building. The brief was to provide a corporate identity for the company to visiting clients and customers, utilising the key location on one of the gateway approaches to the City. The design solution was complicated by plans for a future major road re-alignment which would lead to the main entrance being effectively reversed in the coming years.

The final scheme included a rotunda on the corner of the site with zinc roofing, plain brickwork and a combination of larger glazed panels and slot windows giving a successful mix of natural light and ventilation which tended to set a theme for future projects.
