PROJECT OVERVIEW

Proposed design for Class Q barn conversion in the village of Turnditch, Derbyshire. The design seeks to maintain the patterns of the area whilst using the agricultural appearance of the existing building. The building will be timber clad to ground level with the garage door being concealed in the same cladding. The rainwater pipes are incorporated into the cladding facade.

The design sets the windows further back within the elevation and behind the existing structure. By exposing the existing structural frame, the design emphasises the agricultural appearance, history and gives the new dwelling a strong industrial feel.

The dwelling comprises 4 bedrooms, master with dressing room, 3 bathrooms and a large open plan kitchen/dining/living area with void above creating a volume of space overhead to maximise views and allow natural light to flood in.
