Double Planning Permission Granted for Prominent House in Duffield.

Matthew Montague Architects have secured planning permission for a well-known property on Broadway in Duffield.

58 Broadway has long since been a property that catches the eye, it is a contemporary dwelling with low pitched copper roof. We may not recognise the address but many of us will recognise the building. We are delighted to be working with Chevin Homes once again and to have obtained the planning permission that will create two more superb family homes in a highly desirable village location.

Amber Valley Borough Council have approved two planning applications, the first to extend the existing property and the second to construct a new dwelling to the east of the property.

When the existing house was built it was considered very modern and because it has remained unchanged since the 1960’s, it has become somewhat of a landmark in Duffield. Our scheme for the alterations to the house have been carefully considered in order to compliment the original design ethos.

The white retro block style garden walling will be demolished along with the single storey flat roof extension to create a wider plot for the new dwelling. New timber and render cladding will be added to the front of the property to give a fresh modern look, plus a two-storey extension will be added to the rear and a double garage to the front. No changes will be made to the garden and swimming pool, the copper roof will be retained.

In deliberate contrast and more-in keeping with the rest of Broadway the new dwelling takes inspiration from the more traditional Arts & Crafts style, with steeper pitched roofs and red brick work.

Work has commenced on site.
