New Salon and Spa opens it's doors in Ashbourne
The New Sally Montague Town Spa, Salon and Studio recently welcomed its first clients. Designed by Matthew Montague Architects, the 650 square metre building comprises of the main salon area, providing space for stylists, hair and nail appointments, and a spa area, comprising of five luxury treatment rooms as well as a multipurpose exercise studio.
The site comprises two retail units, first floor offices and the salon. The site is located just within the boundary of the Ashbourne Conservation Area, at the old Horse and Jockey Yard.
The development brings an area of Ashbourne Town Centre that has been derelict for decades back into use.
The salon is a unique environment, blending the tradition and historic significance of the town centre with state of the art salon facilities. The creative design creates harmony between the old and the new by respecting the lines of the historic burgage plots. The new building incorporates linear gables, well defined corners and traditional detailing so as to blend harmoniously with the surrounding area.
The new site, which has been in the planning and design stages for the past 8 years is one of the largest developments of its kind in the UK. The interior is white, light, bright and centred around a spectacular central concrete staircase.
Set over two floors and located around a new courtyard, the development is the final piece in the jigsaw linking Dig Street to St. John's Street through to The Greenman and Blacksmiths yard for shoppers and pedestrians.
