Liversage Trust and St. Mary's Gate Receive George Rennie Awards 2017

We were recently honoured to receive two prestigious George Rennie awards from Derby City Council. We were awarded highly commended for our restoration work with The Liversage Trust on the Nottingham Road Estate and we received a commended award for the restoration of 40 St Mary’s Gate (Grade II listed building).

40 St Mary’s Gate is a late Georgian listed townhouse in the Cathedral Quarter. Its restoration from offices to a family home is unusual in an area of the city where most houses have long been converted to commercial uses. The George Rennie awards recognise quality conservation projects in Derby.

The Nottingham Road estate forms part of the conservation area and the restoration work was driven by a commitment to preserving and enhancing the character of the area. The comprehensive works at 40 St Marys Gate focussed on preserving the Grade II listed building whilst turning it into a luxury residential property.

The main accolade was awarded to Historic England & Derby City Council Derby (Partnership Scheme in Conservation Areas) for shopfront enhancements of which we were delighted to be a part of. Matthew Montague Architects worked on buildings including the Strand, the Wardwick and Sadler Gate.
