Planning Approved for new modern super home.
Planning approval has been granted by Derby City Council for the design of a new ultra-modern four-bedroomed house to be built on Duffield Road on the outskirts of Derby City Centre.
The dwelling will be constructed on land belonging to The Mount on Duffield Road. The majority of the site was previously within the curt ledge of the property at 6 Stanley Close prior to being purchased by the owners of The Mount.
The Mount is currently a substantial L-shaped plot. The new dwelling will be accessed via Stanley Close and they frontage will form part of the Stanley Close Streetscape.
The Mount will become at rectangular plot as it originally was as the purchased land and existing garage have little architectural merit to the listed property.
The house which was originally submitted and approved for planning in 2021 divided opinion within the local community with its modern design; some loved the sleek modern form whilst others would have preferred a far more traditional building.
The design has been refreshed with a further planning application being approved. The new design is for a slightly larger dwelling than the original, the layout has been revised and a basement added.
The new contemporary dwelling will be in contrast to the listing building presenting an original contemporary street scene to Stanley Close”.
The new home will be set over three floors with 4 bedrooms, spacious open plan living accommodation, gym, hobby room and study. There will be parking for 3 cars each with its own electrical charging point.
The building is to be fundamentally sustainable, infilling an urban opportunity with a highly insulated, green energy building suitable for city family life. Adaptable to provide ground floor bedroom accommodation establishing a property that can be a life time home.
Works are expected to start on site early 2024.
