Transformation of Historic Shop Fronts wins George Rennie Award for Conservation.

Every year Derby City Council celebrates excellence in conservation. The awards are made in recognition of a significant contribution to the architectural heritage of Derby. 2022 sees the return of the awards post-covid.

We are delighted to have been Highly Commended for the design and restoration work on three shop fronts at 30, 32 and 34 Green Lane, Derby located in the City Centre Conservation Area.

Mr Gurinder Toor who owns the shop units appointed the practice to manage all statutory applications; including planning, Conservation Area consent, signage and building regulations. The shop fronts were transformed and restored in conjunction with the Townscape Heritage Initiative grant scheme.

The Mayor of the City of Derby, Councillor Robin Wood presented the awards at a ceremony in The Civic Suite at the Council House. George Karamarigo who worked on the project collected the award on behalf of Matthew Montague Architects.
