Plans Unveiled for Class Q Development in Rural Location.
Matthew Montague Architects have designed a housing scheme for the redevelopment of a Class Q site in picturesque, rural Leicestershire. This small, attractive scheme has been designed to replace a Class Q Permitted Barn Conversion.
The thinking behind the revised scheme was something more aesthetically pleasing and to maximise return for the developer.
The revised scheme comprises four dwellings, in a contemporary representation of a simple barn courtyard development designed to interpret the form of a group of traditional farm buildings.
Plots 1, 3 and 4 are linear in form with plot 2 being of deeper plan. Plots 1 and 2 are both 1.5 storey with plots 3 and 4 being 2 storey to form a transition between village and countryside.
The dwellings themselves are either 3 or 4 bedroom. The roof and walls are clad in standing seam sheet material, interspersed with stained vertical boarding, privacy is retained on the larger gable windows with fixed external slatted louvres.
Completion is expected in 2022.
