Property Development Company chooses Matthew Montague Architects.

Matthew Montague Architects have a longstanding working relationship with established Derby based builders; DCH. DCH has been established for more than 20 years, they are a family run property development and construction company.


Matthew Montague Architects have been involved with commercial and residential developments across the Midlands since 1998 and the working relationship with DCH spans many of these years.


DCH specialises in property conversion and refurbishment. Victorian mansions, barn conversions, hospital conversions, listed builders and public houses. Including the stunning Bretby Hall, a former 6000 square meter orthapoedic hospital and Grade II listed building, the building was converted by the developers into 30 luxury apartments plus they built 32 new properties in the grounds.


The Practice has been the residential architects for DCH on many developments to date including sites in Etwall, Mickleover, large projects at Repton School and currently the conversion of the Cross Keys former public house in Turnditch near Ashbourne that is nearing completion.


DCH is headed up by builder and developer Nick Challenor and his son James, the father and son team have now set up James Nicholas Homes with a business strategy to build 100 new homes per year in the Midlands and they have chosen Mathew Montague Architects to work with them to provide architectural services.


Nick Challenor said “we have many years’ experience in the construction industry this new business enables us to focus on bringing quality new homes to the region. We have a great working relationship with the team at Matthew Montague Architects and look forward to a continued fruitful working relationship.”


Matthew Montague commented “we have worked on some quality schemes with DCH over the years and we are delighted to be working on this new venture to build more homes across the Midlands.”


The first development is a three individual homes in Hulland Ward, works start on site in the summer.
